Alex B. Brillantes, Jr.

Brillantes, Jr. is currently on secondment as Commissioner to the Commission on Higher Education. He is a UP Professor and a Lecturer at the Pimentel Center at the University of Makati. He was a former Dean of the National College of Public Administration and Governance and Director of Center for Local and Regional Governance (CLRG). He also served as Executive Director of the Local Government Academy (LGA) of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG). In addition, he was a visiting Professor at Kobe University, in Kobe, Japan; Visiting Fellow at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia; and Guest Professor at Meiji University in Tokyo, Japan. He was a recipient of the International Publications Awards by the University of the Philippines in 2003 to 2006 and was granted UP Diliman Centennial Professorial Chair in 2008 for his research “Harmonizing Objectives and Outcomes at the National and Sub-National Levels Through Citizen Engagement and Capacity Building. Dr. Brillantes has a PhD and MA from the University of Hawaii, and an MPA and AB from the University of the Philippines. He attended special trainings at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington DC and at the Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University. |
