Indigenous peoples (IPs) are represented in the Sangguniang Panlungsod (city council) of General Santos City. The new IP representative vowed to "prioritize the establishment of a scholarship program for the IPs covering elementary, high school and college education."

Senate approves retirement benefits for barangay officials, workers

This proposed measure will benefit officials and village workers who are serving at the lowest level of government in the country. If approved, they will be eligible for retirement pay of up to PhP 100,000 upon meeting certain conditions set by the bill (law).
