Developing Community Capacities for Pro-Poor Budgeting and Local Government Accountability for Poverty Reduction

The Center for Local and Regional Governance participated in documenting the experiences in selected sites of the CODE-NGO’s pilot project on Developing Community Capacities for Pro-Poor Budgeting and Local Government Accountability for Poverty Reduction.

Participation in Local public expenditure management is highly desired but not yet fully explored. Yet, that is the process hoped for and envisioned under a decentralized and democratic framework of local governance. The cases provide a wide range of experience and local settings that offer insights on the potentials and challenges of participatory planning and budgeting.

-Excerpt from Prof. Simeon Ilago’s message in the book “Developing Community Capacities for Pro-Poor Budgeting and Local Government Accountability for Poverty Reduction (Localized Anti-Poverty Program II)”

The project was funded by the Caucus of Development NGO Networks (CODE-NGO). Outputs of this research were published in a book of the same title. Click here for more information or visit the CODE-NGO website.
