42 barangay officials complete good local governance course

27 November 2015

The continuing partnership of the Local Government of Quezon City through its Barangay Operations Office and CLRG produced new graduates of the Harnessing Barangay Development Capacities or HBDC last November 25, 2015.

With 41 QC barangay officials and a guest participant from Cainta, Rizal, the executive and managerial course has once again contributed to improve the skills and understanding of responsibilities of the officials at the barangay level.

Running from October 26 to November 25, 2015, the one-month training helped out the participants to internalize some of the functions expected of Barangay councils through the course’s six modules. The modules are good local governance, teamwork, effective communication, barangay legislation, barangay fiscal administration, and barangay action planning.

HBDC, which basically focuses on good local governance, is the first of four courses which Quezon City barangay officials need to complete before they get the opportunity to travel abroad for a first-hand experience of local governance in another country. The other three courses focus on urban planning, disaster risk reduction and internal security, and environmental management.
