CLRG conducts course for local chief executives
17 June 2013
The Center for Local and Regional Governance (CLRG) successfully conducted a training program for local chief executives and their staff. Attended by newly-elected officials from various LGUs in the country, the program ran from June 13 to 15, 2013 at the National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG) of the University of the Philippines. The program called PREPARE U intends to prepare newly-elected local chief executives (Mayors and Governors) and their staff to enable them effectively handle their executive functions at the local level. The course featured different resource persons who shared their experiences in local government affairs. It showcased lectures and discussions on the structure of Philippine government, key programs of the DILG for local government units, some key principles of executive management, disaster preparedness, ethics and accountability, and crafting of local development agenda, among others. PREPARE U is the first course conducted by the Center since the May 10 elections. Eighty seven participants composed of Mayors, Governors and their executive staff graduated from the course on June 15, 2013. Batch 2 of PREPARE U will run on August 6-8, 2013.
