CLRG conducts the 2ndbatch course for local chief executives

The Center for Local and Regional Governance (CLRG), a constituent unit of UP National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG), successfully conducted the 2nd batch of its preparatory course for new and returning local chief executives and transition team/technical support members.
Thirty four newly elected government officials and staff from various LGUs in the country attended the program held at the National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG), University of the Philippines Diliman Campus on August 6–8, 2013.
The program called PREPARE U intends to prepare newly-elected local government officials and their staff to enable them to effectively perform their multifarious powers, duties and functions for sustainable development of their respective localities.
The course featured different resource persons who shared their experiences in local government affairs. It showcased lectures and discussions on the structure of the Philippine government, key programs of the DILG for local government units, some key principles of executive management, climate change as a priority challenge to LGUs, ethics and accountability, and crafting of local development agenda, among others. Mr. Tony Meloto, founder of the Gawad Kalinga, was also invited as a special guest speaker.
