Environmental Management (including Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction)
As core resources, all LGUs give importance on the contribution of the environment in the capacity of the LGU to manage what they currently have. We in the Center recognize the importance of managing environment and the resources it provides to have a clean and livable LGU for the constituents.
As such, courses on environmental management aim to provide background on how to have a better understanding and appreciation of the LGUs’ differing environments. It also helps how to craft and formulate measures necessary for the preservation, conservation and protection of natural resources. We also promote giving importance in preparing for natural disasters in this drastically changing world. With the relatively increasing role of the LGU in attending to climate change adaptation (CCA) and disaster risk reduction measures (DRRM), we feel the need to share guidelines and strategies that can be helpful in preparing, and possibly avoiding imminent disaster. This includes guidance on identifying and evaluating areas in LGUs vulnerable to climate change, preparing CCA action plans, and how to mainstream crafted measures to Local Development Plans.
